Plan Build Live is a significant milestone in making Plan Cincinnati a reality. Plan Cincinnati, our City’s first comprehensive plan in nearly 30 years, will be completed in mid-2012. Using extensive community input, this plan identifies how our City should develop over the next two decades.
Plan Build Live will provide new regulations by the end of 2013. Along the way, we will hear from several project partners testing the new regulations and their capacity to meet our City’s 21st century challenges. Check this page for updates throughout the process.
The Plan Build Live process can be roughly divided into three phases:
During the first half of 2012, we will sort through current regulations, evaluating them against national best practices. Cincinnati residents, employers, workers and others are invited to tell us what they like and what needs to change. This is your chance to make a difference. Tell us how the new code should work >>
We will update the Form Based Code during this phase. The City’s Form Based Code Working Group will hold a pre-charrette and a charrette. Form Based Code regulations may be adopted as early as mid-year.
Around the second half of 2012, the City will develop the Plan Build Live strategy, including the basic outline of the new system. During this period we’ll invite people into more specific discussions about the proposed regulations.
During the first half of 2013, planning and zoning experts will write land use regulations. Every piece of code will be reviewed, and draft regulations will be shared for feedback. As the plan comes together, you will have more opportunities to comment. We will present final regulations to the City Planning Commission and City Council for approval in late 2013.
